Ingredients

  • 1 extra-large Egg Yolk
  • 2 tbsp Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/4 tsp Lemon Zest
  • 1/2 Cinnamon Stick
  • A Pinch of Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Aged Rum

Instructions

  1. Simmer the milk with the cinnamon stick, pinch of nutmeg, and lemon zest in a saucepan over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  2. Beat the egg yolk until fluffy in a medium bowl using an electric mixer.
  3. Gradually add the hot milk to the egg yolk, whisking continuously to prevent coagulation.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, whisking constantly until it thickens.
  5. Let the mixture cool, then remove the cinnamon stick and lemon zest.
  6. Blend the cooled custard, vanilla, condensed milk, and rum in a blender until smooth.
  7. Transfer to a sterilized bottle, let it cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours before serving.
