Ingredients

  • 2 lemongrass stalks
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 oz Kentucky bourbon
  • 5 large Thai basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp lemongrass syrup
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • Crushed ice
  • Additional Thai basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. For the lemongrass syrup, chop lemongrass into small 1-inch pieces.
  2. In a small pot, bring water, sugar, and chopped lemongrass to a boil and let simmer for about 20 minutes until the mixture becomes a thick syrup.
  3. In a highball glass, muddle Thai basil leaves in cold water and lemongrass syrup.
  4. Stir in bourbon.
  5. Add crushed ice and garnish with Thai basil sprigs.
