Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 fluid ounces 100-proof bourbon whiskey
  • 1 fluid ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 drops orange bitters
  • 1 large egg white
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a small pan over medium heat, simmer white sugar and water until the sugar is dissolved to prepare the simple syrup. Let it cool completely.
  2. Combine 3/4 fluid ounce of the simple syrup, bourbon, lemon juice, bitters, and egg white in a large cocktail shaker.
  3. Shake the mixture without ice for about 30 seconds to emulsify the egg white.
  4. Add 3 ice cubes to the shaker, cover, and shake vigorously for about 45 seconds until the outside is frosty.
  5. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass containing 1 large ice cube.
