Ingredients

  • 1 sugar cube
  • 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
  • 1.50 oz rye whiskey
  • 1 dash Pernod Absinthe
  • 2 oz Crispin Original Cider
  • Ice
  • Lemon peel, optional

Instructions

  1. Place the sugar cube in a mixing glass, saturate it with bitters, and muddle to break it down.
  2. Add ice and pour in the rye whiskey.
  3. Stir until well chilled and the sugar is almost completely dissolved.
  4. Put a dash of absinthe in the serving glass and swirl to coat the glass, discarding any extra. Fill the glass with ice.
  5. Strain the chilled rye mixture evenly into the serving glass and top with cider.
  6. Garnish with a lemon peel if desired and serve.
