Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1.50-inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 or 2 jalapenos, sliced
  • salted chili sugar, for rimming the glass
  • 1 1/2 oz tequila
  • 1/2 oz mezcal
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/3 cup pomegranate or cranberry juice
  • Sparkling water to top up

Instructions

  1. In a medium pot, bring 1/2 cup water, honey, ginger, and jalapeƱos to a boil over high heat.
  2. Boil for 2-3 minutes, then remove from the heat and let it cool to make the honey ginger syrup.
  3. Combine the salt, sugar, and chili powder on a shallow plate and rim the glass with the mixture. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2-3 tablespoons of the ginger syrup, tequila, mezcal, lemon juice, and pomegranate or cranberry juice.
  5. Add ice to the shaker and shake the mixture.
  6. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass filled with ice.
  7. Top with sparkling water and garnish with mint as desired.
