Ingredients

  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods, crushed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 strips of orange peel
  • 1 3/4 cups gin
  • 1 oz spiced gin
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • Star anise, cinnamon stick, and orange twist or wedge, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, crushed cardamom pods, bay leaves, orange peel, and gin in a clean mason jar.
  2. Allow the mixture to infuse for 24-36 hours, then strain out the spices to create the spiced gin.
  3. In a chunky, heavy-bottomed tumbler filled with ice, pour in the spiced gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, each at 1 oz.
  4. Garnish the cocktail with a star anise, cinnamon stick, and an orange twist or wedge.
