Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons superfine sugar
  • 6 mint leaves, plus 4 sprigs for garnish
  • 2 ounces cognac
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. In a highball glass or silver julep cup, stir together the superfine sugar and water until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the mint leaves and gently crush them with a spoon to release their aroma and flavor.
  3. Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  4. Pour the cognac over the ice and stir until chilled for about 15 seconds.
  5. Add more crushed ice to fill the glass.
  6. Garnish with mint sprigs and add two straws for a traditional presentation.
