Ingredients

  • 1 sugar cube
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash of water
  • Ice
  • 3 oz. smoked bourbon
  • Orange peel twist
  • Cocktail cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat a pellet grill to 180°F or prepare a pellet smoker tube for cold smoking according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Place 1 cup of bourbon in a tempered glass measuring cup and set it in a cast-iron skillet on the grill rack.
  3. Surround the cup with ice and smoke the bourbon for 45-60 minutes, ensuring to drain water and replenish ice every 15 minutes to maintain a cool temperature and minimize evaporation.
  4. In an old-fashioned glass, muddle a sugar cube with bitters and water until the sugar is crushed and nearly dissolved.
  5. Add ice and the smoked bourbon to the glass.
  6. Garnish the cocktail with an orange peel twist and cocktail cherries.
