A refreshing and citrusy frozen cocktail with bitter sweetness and zesty orange flavors.
Ingredients
- 1/16 cup sugar
- 1/16 cup water
- 1/2 tsp chopped orange zest
- Pinch of salt
- 3/8 cup blood orange soda or sparkling citrus soda
- 1/16 cup gin
- 1/32 cup sweet vermouth
- 1/32 cup Campari
- Blood orange slices
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, orange zest, and salt to create a simple syrup. Stir until the sugar dissolves, approximately 5 minutes.
- In a separate container, combine the soda, gin, vermouth, Campari, and simple syrup.
- Pour the mixture into a 3-qt. baking dish, cover it, and place it in the freezer until it becomes solid, for about 8 hours or overnight.
- Using a fork, scrape the granita to fluff it, then scoop it into serving dishes and garnish with blood orange slices.
