Ingredients

  • 1/16 cup sugar
  • 1/16 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp chopped orange zest
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/8 cup blood orange soda or sparkling citrus soda
  • 1/16 cup gin
  • 1/32 cup sweet vermouth
  • 1/32 cup Campari
  • Blood orange slices

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, orange zest, and salt to create a simple syrup. Stir until the sugar dissolves, approximately 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate container, combine the soda, gin, vermouth, Campari, and simple syrup.
  3. Pour the mixture into a 3-qt. baking dish, cover it, and place it in the freezer until it becomes solid, for about 8 hours or overnight.
  4. Using a fork, scrape the granita to fluff it, then scoop it into serving dishes and garnish with blood orange slices.
