Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 tsp chopped orange zest
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/8 cup blood orange soda or sparkling citrus soda
  • 1/8 cup gin
  • 1/16 cup sweet vermouth
  • 1/16 cup Campari
  • Blood orange slice for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, orange zest, and salt to make a simple syrup. Stir until the sugar dissolves, around 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate container, combine the soda, gin, vermouth, Campari, and the simple syrup to create the mixture.
  3. Pour the mixture into a 3-quart baking dish, cover it, and place it in the freezer until it becomes solid, for approximately 8 hours or overnight.
  4. Use a fork to scrape the granita to fluff it up, then scoop it into serving dishes and garnish with a slice of blood orange.
