Ingredients
- Crushed mini peppermint candy cane for rim
- 1.70 oz vodka
- Ice
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the caster sugar and 3.4 fl oz water over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat, stir in the peppermint extract, and let the syrup cool completely.
- Transfer the crushed candy cane to a shallow dish.
- Dip the rim of a martini glass in water, then in the crushed candy cane. If the pieces don't stick, mix the water with a little icing sugar.
- In a jug or cocktail shaker, pour 0.5 fl oz of the homemade peppermint syrup.
- Add the vodka and a handful of ice, then stir until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared martini glass to serve.
