Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen mango chunks
  • Juice of 2 large limes
  • 1/4 cup cane sugar (or to taste)
  • A large pinch of salt
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2-3 cups water
  • 2 oz tequila or mezcal (optional)

Instructions

  1. If using fresh mango, peel and cube the mango.
  2. In two shallow bowls, add chile-lime salt and chamoy separately.
  3. In a blender, combine the mango chunks, lime juice, ice cubes, sugar, 2 cups of water, and tequila (if using). Blend until it reaches a thick slushie consistency.
  4. Dip the rims of glasses into chamoy, then into the chile-lime salt to coat generously.
  5. Drizzle chamoy into the bottom of each glass and around the sides.
  6. Fill the glasses one-third of the way with the frozen mango mixture, then add chamoy and chile-lime salt before adding more mango mixture. Repeat layering until the glasses are full.
  7. Garnish with fresh mango chunks and tamarind candy straws if desired.
