Ingredients
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1/2 oz bourbon, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup Reddi-wip(r) Original Dairy Whipped Topping
- Additional Reddi-wip for serving
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, whisk together the egg yolk, sugar, and salt.
- Slowly pour in the milk while continuing to whisk the mixture.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the eggnog thickens and coats the back of a spoon (reaching 160°F), which should take about 30 minutes.
- Strain the mixture into a large bowl and stir in the bourbon (if using), vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the eggnog until chilled, approximately 3 hours.
- Just before serving, whisk the Reddi-wip into the homemade eggnog.
- Top the holiday drink with additional Reddi-wip and enjoy!
