Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 oz bourbon, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Reddi-wip(r) Original Dairy Whipped Topping
  • Additional Reddi-wip for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, whisk together the egg yolk, sugar, and salt.
  2. Slowly pour in the milk while continuing to whisk the mixture.
  3. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the eggnog thickens and coats the back of a spoon (reaching 160°F), which should take about 30 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into a large bowl and stir in the bourbon (if using), vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the eggnog until chilled, approximately 3 hours.
  6. Just before serving, whisk the Reddi-wip into the homemade eggnog.
  7. Top the holiday drink with additional Reddi-wip and enjoy!
