Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons rum
- Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Crack the egg and separate the yolk in one bowl and the white in another.
- In the bowl with the egg yolk, add sugar and salt, then whisk until smooth and pale yellow in color.
- Pour in heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and rum, then whisk until well combined.
- Cover the bowl with the eggnog mixture and place in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- When ready to serve, remove both bowls from the refrigerator.
- Using a hand mixer, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, about 5-8 minutes.
- Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the eggnog mixture until thick and creamy.
- Serve the eggnog immediately with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
