Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Crack the egg and separate the yolk in one bowl and the white in another.
  2. In the bowl with the egg yolk, add sugar and salt, then whisk until smooth and pale yellow in color.
  3. Pour in heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and rum, then whisk until well combined.
  4. Cover the bowl with the eggnog mixture and place in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  5. When ready to serve, remove both bowls from the refrigerator.
  6. Using a hand mixer, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, about 5-8 minutes.
  7. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the eggnog mixture until thick and creamy.
  8. Serve the eggnog immediately with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
