Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2-inch wide piece of grapefruit peel
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 shot of gin
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • Ice
  • 1/4 cup of grapefruit juice
  • Sparkling water
  • Sliced grapefruit for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the sugar, grapefruit peel, and salt. Muddle until the grapefruit is fragrant and the sugar begins to clump.
  2. Add the gin, water, and a generous scoop of ice to the shaker. Cover and shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker feels cold.
  3. Fill a glass halfway with ice and pour in the grapefruit juice.
  4. Strain the gin mixture over the grapefruit juice and top with sparkling water.
  5. Optionally, garnish with a slice of grapefruit.
  6. Stir well before enjoying!
