Ingredients
- 1/4 oz plain vodka
- Edible 23-karat gold-leaf sheet
- 1 oz Rémy Martin XO Cognac
- 1 oz Pineau des Charentes aperitif wine
- 1 oz white grape juice
- 1 oz simple syrup (3 parts water to 1 part sugar)
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice, strained
- Dash of Angostura bitters
- Veuve Clicquot Champagne, chilled
Instructions
- Place the edible gold leaf in a shallow bowl with the plain vodka.
- Tear off small pieces of the gold leaf using tweezers and let them float on the vodka, avoiding any squeezing or folding of the gold leaf.
- In an iced metal shaker, combine the Rémy Martin XO Cognac, Pineau des Charentes, white grape juice, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and a dash of Angostura bitters. Shake vigorously.
- Pour the mixture into a trumpet flute, filling it 3/4 of the way.
- Top the flute with chilled Veuve Clicquot Champagne.
- Lastly, pour the plain vodka over the cocktail, allowing the gold leaf to gracefully slide onto the surface.
