Ingredients

  • Absinthe, for rinsing
  • 2 1/4 ounces Hennessy VSOP cognac
  • 1 barspoon Lyle's golden syrup
  • 6 dashes Peychaud's bitters
  • Garnish: lemon twist

Instructions

  1. Chill a rocks glass and rinse it with absinthe, then discard any excess.
  2. In a mixing glass with ice, combine the cognac, golden syrup, and Peychaud's bitters. Stir until well-chilled.
  3. Strain the mixture into the prepared rocks glass.
