Frozen Fashioned
A modern twist on the classic old-fashioned cocktail, the Frozen Fashioned features a suspended ice ball presentation and a rich, flavorful blend of rye, vermouth, maple syrup, and bitters.
Ingredients
- Filtered water (for freezing ice ball)
- Ice cubes
- 1.50 ounces 100-proof rye whiskey
- 0.75 ounce vermouth
- 0.25 ounce maple syrup
- 8 drops peach bitters
- 4 drops Peychaud's bitters
- 1 orange peel
- 1 lemon peel
Instructions
- Clean the inside of a latex balloon and fill it with enough filtered water to fit in a cocktail glass, then tie it closed.
- Place the balloon in the freezer, suspended so that nothing touches it, to maintain its shape and freeze until solid.
- Remove the frozen water balloon from the ice ball and discard it, keeping the ice ball frozen until ready to use.
- Fill a large glass with ice cubes and add the rye, vermouth, maple syrup, and both bitters, then stir to combine.
- Strain the mixture into a rocks glass and add the frozen ice ball.
- Garnish with orange and lemon peels and serve.
