Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz spiced vanilla syrup
  • 2 oz Bourbon whisky
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • Ice
  • Lemon slice for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium/high heat, combine sugar, water, vanilla extract, cinnamon stick, star anise, clove, juniper, and cardamom. Add optional fresh vanilla bean if desired.
  2. Stir to dissolve the sugar, then let the mixture simmer gently for 5 minutes.
  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer on low for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let the liquid cool.
  5. Lastly, strain the syrup into a jar with an airtight lid.
  6. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add whisky, lemon juice, and the spiced vanilla syrup.
  7. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then pour into a glass over ice.
  8. Garnish with a lemon slice. Serve immediately.
