Ingredients
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar, divided
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of allspice and cloves
- 2 oz bourbon
- whipped cream (for topping)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of sugar until light.
- In a large saucepan, heat the milk, cream, remaining sugar, and spices over medium heat until steaming, about 5 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- While whisking the egg yolk, slowly add some of the steaming milk, starting with a few drops and then pouring in a thin stream while whisking. Once about 1 cup of milk has been added to the eggs, pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan, whisking constantly.
- Stir in the bourbon and heat on low until the eggnog is hot and thick, about 5 minutes.
- Ladle the hot spiced bourbon eggnog into a glass and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
