Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons rum (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Separate the egg whites and yolks into two bowls. Cover the egg whites with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator.
  2. In the bowl with the egg yolks, whisk in the sugar and salt until smooth and pale in color.
  3. Pour in the heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and rum, then whisk until well combined.
  4. Cover the bowl with the eggnog mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  5. When ready to serve, remove both the chilled eggnog and egg whites from the refrigerator.
  6. Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the eggnog until thick and creamy.
  7. Serve the eggnog immediately, sprinkled with a dash of nutmeg on top.
