Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons rum (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of ground nutmeg (for garnish)
Instructions
- Separate the egg whites and yolks into two bowls. Cover the egg whites with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator.
- In the bowl with the egg yolks, whisk in the sugar and salt until smooth and pale in color.
- Pour in the heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and rum, then whisk until well combined.
- Cover the bowl with the eggnog mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- When ready to serve, remove both the chilled eggnog and egg whites from the refrigerator.
- Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the eggnog until thick and creamy.
