  • 1 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp organic cane sugar
  • 1 green cardamom pod (slightly crushed)
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 5 oz fruity red wine (such as Beaujolais)
  • Orange slice for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine apple cider, orange juice, organic cane sugar, cardamom pod, clove, star anise, and cinnamon stick over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, then add the red wine and simmer for 20 minutes, making sure it doesn't boil.
  3. Strain the mulled wine through a fine-meshed strainer.
