Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate orange syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • A dash of orange bitters
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1/4 teaspoon edible gold glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepot, combine the pomegranate juice and orange juice and bring to a boil.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks and maple syrup, then cook until the mixture reduces by half and thickens, around 8-10 minutes. Remove and discard the cinnamon sticks. Let it cool. This syrup can be used for about 3 cocktails.
  3. To smoke the glass, use a kitchen torch to ignite the tips of a cinnamon stick and a sage leaf on a heatproof plate. Quickly turn a cocktail glass over the stick and sage to capture the smoke, and let it sit for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Fill a glass with ice.
  5. In a cocktail shaker, combine the syrup, lemon juice, bitters, bourbon, and glitter (if using).
  6. Shake or stir to combine, then pour into the prepared glass.
  7. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and sage leaf, as desired.
