Ingredients
- 6 oz whole cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp lime juice
- 3/8 cup orange juice
- 1 1/2 oz cranberry syrup
- 1 1/2 oz tequila
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz orange liqueur
- Ice
- Granulated or sanding sugar for rimming the glass
Instructions
- To make the cranberry syrup, combine all the syrup ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the cranberries burst, then cool for 5 minutes.
- Puree the syrup in a blender and strain through a fine mesh strainer into a container. Refrigerate until cool; the syrup can be made up to 1 week ahead.
- Prepare the cocktail glass by wetting the rim with water or lime juice and dipping it into granulated or sanding sugar.
- Fill the glass halfway with ice.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the cranberry syrup, tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
- Pour the cocktail into the prepared glass and enjoy.
