Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon hot chocolate mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, plus more for garnish
  • a pinch of cayenne pepper, plus more for garnish
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 to 1.50 cups ice
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, cold
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Finely chop dark chocolate into small, uniform pieces.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a medium mixing bowl in the microwave or using a double boiler on the stovetop, stirring frequently.
  3. Stir in sugar, hot chocolate mix, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper, then add 1/2 cup of milk and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Transfer the chocolate mixture into a blender and add the remaining milk and ice. Blend until well combined. For a thicker consistency, add more ice and blend again.
  5. Pour the mixture into a glass and top with whipped cream.
  6. Sprinkle with cinnamon and cayenne pepper for garnish.
