Chai Spice Sazerac
A spicy and spirit-forward cocktail featuring chai tea-infused brown sugar syrup, bourbon, and a hint of absinthe, garnished with an orange peel.
Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 0.25 oz absinthe
- 0.50 oz brown sugar chai syrup (recipe below)
- 1 dash Peychauds bitters or cardamom bitters
- Orange peel for garnish
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 chai tea bags
Instructions
- Chill a rocks glass.
- In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients except the orange peel.
- Add ice to the mixing glass.
- Stir the ingredients.
- Strain the mixture into the chilled rocks glass.
- For the brown sugar chai syrup: boil water and brown sugar until dissolved, remove from heat, steep chai tea bags for 10 minutes, then remove. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
