Ingredients
- 1.50 oz good quality tequila
- 1.50 ruby red grapefruits
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/2 tablespoon agave nectar
- Splash of sparkling water (optional)
- Coarse salt and rosemary for rim garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven broiler.
- Cut one grapefruit in half and slice the other half into 1/2 inch slices, then cut these slices in half to create wedges.
- Place the grapefruit halves and slices on a cookie sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and white sugar, then generously sprinkle the grapefruit halves and slices with the sugar mixture.
- Broil for 8-10 minutes until the grapefruit is caramelized.
- Squeeze the broiled grapefruit halves into a cocktail shaker; the juice should measure one cup.
- Add the lime juice, agave nectar, and tequila to the shaker, then add ice and shake well.
- Mix together coarse salt and dried rosemary on a small plate. Wet the glass rim and dip it into the salt mixture.
- Pour the margarita over ice and garnish with the broiled grapefruit wedges. Add a splash of sparkling water if desired.
