Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/6 cup water
  • 1 2/3 oz silver tequila
  • 1 1/3 oz Agavero Orange
  • 1 1/3 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 tbsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • zest of 2 limes
  • crushed ice for serving
  • extra lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, combine blackberries and lime juice. Heat until the blackberries become soft and begin to burst.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a blender and puree until smooth.
  3. Return the pureed blackberries to the saucepan and add sugar and water. Bring to a simmer, then simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
  4. In a large pitcher, mix the cooled blackberry syrup, tequila, Agavero Orange, and lime juice. Stir to combine.
  5. In a shallow bowl, combine salt, sugar, and lime zest.
  6. Rim each glass with a lime wedge and dip into the salt/sugar mixture.
  7. Fill the glasses with crushed ice and pour the drink over the ice.
  8. Serve with extra lime wedges.
