Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup half-and-half cream
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tablespoon light rum
  • 1 teaspoon creme de cacao
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream and cocoa powder, optional for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, half-and-half, egg yolk, and sugar. Cook over medium-low heat until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  2. Blend the ripe banana in a food processor until smooth.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into a pitcher, add the banana puree, rum, creme de cacao, vanilla, and remaining milk and cream. Stir well.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.
  5. Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with whipped cream and cocoa powder if desired.
