Ingredients

  • 1/2 Honeycrisp apple
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 6 oz red wine, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, or Malbec
  • 1 oz brandy (or rum for a gluten-free option)
  • 1/8 cup 7Up or Sprite (or use all soda water for a less sweet version)
  • 1/8 cup soda water

Instructions

  1. Slice the apple into thin slices, leaving the skin on, and place them in a glass pitcher.
  2. If using whole cloves, place them in a tea infuser or tie them in a piece of cheesecloth for easy removal later, then add to the pitcher with the apple slices.
  3. Pour the brandy and red wine into the pitcher and stir gently to combine. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Just before serving, add the soda and soda water to the pitcher, and gently stir to combine.
